WELCOME BY PRINCIPAL

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to the 2011 school year.The year will be a busy one for the students and teachers and I invite parents to be engaged partner in the education of your child.

Education in Australia is undergoing a significant review and changes are impacting on all schools including Elanora Primary.The introduction of Naplan (National Assessment Program in Literacy and Numeracy) in 2008 sees all students assessed annually in years 3, 5 and 7 in testing conducted in literacy and numeracy in May.

The first drafts of the National Curriculum was available in early 2010 – this will see all states fall into line with a consistent curriculum in English, Science Maths and History – a much awaited development.

Elanora has received a share of the Commonwealth Government’s BER (Building Education Revolution) – a three million dollar grant to build a new library and a science innovation centre. This is planned for completion in 2011

It looks like another exciting year in education.
