Prep Enrolments 2018

Prep enrolments for 2018

Prep enrolments for 2018 will begin after the Prep Information night on Wednesday 17 May at 6.30pm in the Performing Arts Centre. Click here to see the information flyer.

The enrolment process:

Following the Prep Information night in term 2, all parents will need to book an enrolment interview with our designated Enrolment Officer as part of the enrolment process at Elanora State School. Appointments can be made by phoning the school office on 0755599222.

Parents may download a copy of our current information booklets and enrolment forms on the website or contact the school office and request a pack be posted. The Prep enrolment folder includes an information booklet, specifically for the prep year, a parent interview form and the general school information booklet.

Prep walk arounds occur every Friday at 9.30 am by appointment from the beginning of Term two.

Bookings for the Prep walkarounds are required. Please contact the school office on (07) 5559 9222 to register your interest. The tours usually take around 45 minutes and parents are encouraged to bring their children along on the walk. Tours will depart from the administration office at 9.30 am.

During the Prep Parent information session, the current Prep team and Deputy Principal P-2 will inform you about the programs on offer at Elanora and the processes involved in preparing your child for school.

Parents who have already completed their child's enrolment form will be emailed approximately 2 weeks before the interview period. Each day a group of around 10 parents and their children will be invited to attend a session in one of our Prep rooms. Students will commence the morning at 9.00 am in the front Prep playground with their parents and members of our prep staff.

At 9.15 students will be invited into one of our prep classrooms where the teacher and teacher aides will conduct a range of activities to get to know your child and help them feel more comfortable when they start prep the following year.

From 9.15 am - 10.15 am, the parents will meet with the Deputy Principal. Over morning tea, we will discuss all of the processes involved in making classes for 2018 and answer any questions you may have.

Private interviews are also available at this time or by additional appointment to discuss one on one, your child's strengths and potential needs. The full details of these sessions will be outlined in your email invitation.

Elanora crèche and kindergarten students will visit our school with their crèche and kindergarten teachers on many occasions throughout the year, and special time slots will be arranged with the director of the crèche and kindergarten to participate in the class activities. Parents of these students will also be invited to the parent and student interviews.

Local child care links: Elanora State School is proud to be associated with all of our local child care providers. Links between the centres have been established and our Prep team are in communication with the Prep staff at our centres. We share ideas, resources and ways to support our families as they transition into the formal school environment.

Prep is 5 days a week and children stay all day. Children must be 5years old by 30 June in the year they start Prep.
