 Music allows the children to extend their talent and use the curriculum delivered in the classroom to explore, develop, create and respond. When rehearsing and performing, students extend and consolidate their knowledge of:

  • Physical movement and co ordination with Dance
  • Mathematical skills with rhythm and beat
  • Understanding how words are woven into a song
  • How is history reflected in Music
  • Higher order thinking such as
    • Allowing students to think and create in complex patterns
    • Question their contribution as well as others in the group performances
    • How they all can improve and be the best they can be
 

 Classroom Music

In semester one student explore music with the emphasis on developing skills in:

  • Instrument technique
  • Playing tuned and untuned percussion instruments
  • Singing - accompanied and unaccompanied
  • Dance and movement activities
  • Beat, pitch, dynamics and tempo
  • Reading and playing notation

 

Instrumental Music

 This program extends the classroom music program. Students learn band and orchestral instruments in small groups and participate in larger ensembles such as concert bands, string orchestras and stage bands.  Student have two lessons per week, one is a small group and one in an ensemble.

 

Extra Curricular activities

  •  Through an audition process student are selected to be part of the school choirs
  • ( Year 1-2 Choir, Year 3-4 Choir, Year 5-6 Choirs)
  • Rehearsals are conducted before school once a week from 7.45am to 8.45 am
  • The students enjoy a repertoire ranging from Popular Music, Part/Harmony singing and Rock n Roll classic
