Principal’s welcome

Welcome to the 2017 school year at Elanora State Independent School.

Our school has been serving the Elanora Community since 1983. What started as a small school has now become one of the largest primary schools on the Gold Coast with an enrolment in excess 1100 students.

Our school motto is Excellence and Honour.  We have a proud history and are committed to striving for excellence in all aspects of school operations.  We value honesty and integrity and strive to model these qualities and instil them in our students.

We are committed to the development of the whole child.  Our goal is for every student to develop their unique skills and potential to enable them to become active, responsible citizens with inquiring minds, confidence and healthy bodies.

As a large school, we are able to provide students with a diverse range of academic, sporting and cultural opportunities, however we also strive to provide a caring, family environment for our students, so that they can be nurtured and encouraged to grow into valued and contributing members of our school community.

We set high standards, provide excellent teaching and support programs and are proud of our students’ academic achievement over many years – placing us as one of the highest performing primary schools on the Gold Coast.

The safety and well-being of our students is our priority and this year we are embedding our new school well-being program, which combines the basic ideas of the “You Can Do It” program with aspects of Stephen Covey’s philosophy. The new program, which has been developed by our Elanora staff, is called “Lead to Succeed”. Through this program and consistent messages and terminology, we encourage everyone in our school community to become an “Everyday Leader”.

As an Independent Public School, we are accountable to our school community, which is represented by our School Council and our Parents and Citizens' Association. We value parent input and encourage parents to become actively involved in their children’s education.

I look forward to working with you this year, so that our school continues to provide excellence in teaching and learning in a warm, nurturing environment where children are encouraged to achieve their very best.

Best wishes for 2017.
